Maintenance Shift Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Shift Engineer to join our Engineering and Maintenance department, reporting to the Chief Engineer. The role involves ensuring high‑standard maintenance of the property, including fire, health and safety, plant systems, and guest areas.
Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs to building fabric, finishes, furnishings, and fittings with a high level of detail.
- Maintain and operate building plant and systems (boilers, pumps, air handling units, fans, electrical distribution, pipework, ductwork and associated components) within established guidelines.
- Respond proactively and communicate effectively with guests and hotel teams to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Complete repairs, requests and follow up as required.
- Adhere to safety procedures and policies, complying with health and safety standards.
- Inspect property fire and life safety systems.
- Conduct full property and plant inspections.
- Update records and engineering reporting system per operating policies.
- Monitor the hotel’s BMS system and respond to alerts.
- Maintain the hotel’s technical processes and installations.
- Assist with the preventive maintenance program throughout the property.
- Act as point of contact for the Engineering department when the Chief Engineer or Maintenance Manager is absent.
Qualifications
- Passion for work and pride in personal performance, with proven experience in luxury environments.
- Thorough knowledge of plant, boiler, air conditioning and heating equipment, maintaining efficient operation.
- Good understanding of large water systems and Legionella control.
- Self‑motivated and willing to challenge for continuous improvement.
- Excellent English communication skills with guests, management, and team members.
- UK trade qualification in electrical or mechanical field, combined with knowledge of BMS, fire and life safety systems and legislation.
- Team player who can independently handle tasks.
- Flexible to work evenings and weekend shifts.
- Friendly, approachable and professional demeanor.
- Right to work in the UK.
