About the role

Imperial College London is seeking a Head of Continuous Improvement Works to lead the delivery of continuous improvement and minor works across the Imperial estate, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with service excellence.

Working within the Property Division’s Operational Property Group, you will lead the planning, scheduling and delivery of improvement work packages, driving value for money, operational efficiency and service quality. As part of the Property Management Leadership team, you will play a key role in embedding a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring facilities management services are enhanced through effective project delivery, performance monitoring and collaboration with internal teams and contractors.

What you would be doing

You will lead a high-quality Works improvement service across the division by managing and coaching the Continuous Improvement Managers, promoting a culture of professionalism, collaboration and continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for managing project schedules and budgets, overseeing contractor performance, and ensuring works are completed safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

You will work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, Centres of Expertise and operational teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyse performance data and implement sustainable solutions to recurring issues. The role also involves establishing and monitoring KPIs, maintaining reporting frameworks, ensuring compliance, and supporting a consistent, high-quality service across the estate

What we are looking for

  • A relevant professional qualification at Level 4 or above (or equivalent experience)
  • A recognised project management qualification (e.g. Prince2, RICS)
  • Proven experience leading teams and delivering continuous improvement, change or operational excellence initiatives
  • Experience managing project delivery within a property or facilities management environment
  • Experience of financial planning, cost management and delivering value for money
  • Experience analysing mapping, and re-engineering processes to drive efficiency
  • A strong understanding of building regulations, health & safety and compliance requirements
  • Good working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC and related infrastructure
  • Experience working with contractors and managing performance within SLAs and KPIs
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
