We have2‘full time’ post 16 young people, who will attend for 5 hours a day over 3 days. There are other young people that willattend forsessions of 2, 3or 4 hours.
You will be
- Contributing toChill’dCIC’sholistic approachwith young people.
- Identifying andfacilitating any barriers to engagement using aperson-centeredapproach.
- Identifyingthe young person's needs with social,emotionaland mentalwell-being.
- Empowering young people to resolve their own issues and help them to develop coping strategiesforthe future
- Modelling a healthy and trusting relationship, through clear communication andappropriate boundaries
- Acknowledging their strengths, talents and gifts and helping them to use these
- An active listener and offer support, be encouraging and help the young person develop a positive view of themselves and their environment
This can be delivered through talking about their interests, engaging with their interests, doing fun tasks together, supporting play, helping them to make positiveconnectionsanddevelopnew interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting young people in a way that helps them to engage in activities offered,taking into accounttheir interests and needs
- Have a positive understanding of autism and otherneurodiversity
- Empowering young people
- Understanding that traditional education has beenproblematic,and the young person may have trauma and require a non-traditional approach to tasks
- Recogniseprogress made and communicate to the team (Chill’d, parents /carersand the young person)
- Tosummariseeach session to the team in a positive way to help build relationships and trust
- To understand the goals, philosophy,processesand practices ofChill’dCIC and support our future aims
- To understand and follow the policies ofChill’dCIC
- To safeguard and promote the welfare of students
- To attend relevant meetings
- To put the needs of the young person first
- To be able to react positively and suggest ideas to help the young person
- Anything else as required by the Directors to fulfill this role
This is a senior role.
You willbe responsible for, ensuring the day to day running of the Hub works forall ofour young people, whilst they are sharing the space.
Youwill work closely withChill’dSenior Mentor to help shape the best experience for our young people, in line with our bespoke provision.This involves usingunique and imaginative ideas to really engage with the young people in theethosofChill’dCIC’s ‘a different way’
You will be working with young peoplemainlyona 1-2-1 basis as well asjoining other mentors also working on a 1-2-1 basis to form smallgroupsand encouraging positive socialinteractions during shared times.
To provide relationship focused support andbe responsible forplanning the learning package for each young person, ensuring they learn and develop at a pace that suits them.
You will be helpingthe youngpeople achieve AQA awards and Functional Skills.
The role is for 40 hours per week for 39 weeks a year.
Pay isaveragedover 12 equal monthly payments.
Holiday’s must be taken outside of term time.
There is an opportunity foradditionalwork during the holidays, which will bepaid asovertime.
The salary is generous andisnegotiable depending on experience
