Job Overview

Lead day‑to‑day operations of the facilities team at Carlton Clinic, Furndene, and community sites in Cumbria. Manage catering, café, domestic, linen, portering and reception services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee domestic teams, catering operations, cafés, portering, transport, waste, switchboard and reception.
  • Ensure service delivery and continuously improve quality.
  • Address day‑to‑day operational issues and make timely decisions.
  • Coordinate with health and safety standards and manage statutory compliance.

Compensation

Band B (R: £21.08 per hour) with potential earnings enhancements for weekend work and on‑call duties.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Facilities Management or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate or Diploma (to be obtained within 6 months of appointment).
  • Relevant management qualification to CMS or DMS level.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of facilities management, legislative and statutory environments.
  • People management and leadership skills to motivate and control a large, multi‑skilled workforce and manage change.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Food Hygiene Legislation, Health and Safety, COSHH and risk assessment requirements.
  • Training, delivery, communication and assessment skills.
  • Strong communication skills for staff, patients and the public, including report writing.
  • High literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience

  • Managing facilities services and working in compliance with health and safety legislation in a healthcare setting.
  • Managing staff groups and teams.
  • Experience with quality control systems.
  • Previous work in a facilities service within a healthcare setting.
