Description
The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a hands‑on, security‑focused Delivery Consultant to design, build, and implement security solutions in real customer environments. You will write infrastructure as code, engineer detective and preventive controls, and architect security into workloads from the ground up. This role places emphasis on engineering automated, repeatable security controls that scale across complex environments, at the intersection of cloud architecture and security engineering.
You will partner with customers navigating complex cloud transformations, helping them build security architectures that are automated, scalable, and operationally sustainable. You will bring deep knowledge of AWS security services and a builder's mindset, working across identity, network security, data protection, detection and response, and infrastructure security to design solutions that let customers move fast while staying secure.
As a trusted technical advisor, you will guide customers through security architecture decisions, threat modelling, and the implementation of security controls across multi‑account environments. You will lead by building — producing working code, reusable patterns, and reference architectures that customers and the broader community can adopt.
UK citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver security outcomes within customer engagements by designing and implementing automated security controls, architectures, and patterns within defined project workstreams using AWS security services and infrastructure as code.
- Solve security challenges independently across domains such as identity and access management, network security, data protection, and detection and response.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, partnering with fellow consultants, customer engineers, and account teams to define and implement security solutions, and identifying follow‑on opportunities.
- Manage and elevate risks by proactively identifying security and delivery risks, presenting options and recommendations, and driving resolution within your workstream.
- Develop depth as a security domain expert by building recognised expertise in at least one security domain while maintaining broad working knowledge across AWS security services.
- Contribute to the broader security practice by participating in internal initiatives, creating reusable security content and reference architectures, and supporting knowledge sharing across the team.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience as a technical specialist in design and architecture.
- Experience with cloud‑based solutions (AWS or equivalent) including systems, networks, and operating systems.
- Experience architecting, securing, and operating Amazon Web Services.
- Experience with automation or scripting languages such as Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, or equivalent.
- Experience in one or more of the following domains: access‑control systems, network security, application‑ and system‑development security, security architecture and models, cryptography, and operations security.
- Experience writing infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform) to deploy and manage cloud resources.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical security challenges in distributed cloud environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IT consulting/management with IT transformation in a customer‑facing role.
- Experience implementing multi‑account security architectures using AWS Organizations, SCPs, and AWS Control Tower.
- Experience building automated detection or remediation workflows (e.g., EventBridge, Lambda, Security Hub custom actions).
- Experience securing workloads in regulated or government environments (e.g., UK public sector, financial services).
- Familiarity with container or serverless security (ECS, EKS, Lambda security configurations).
- AWS Security Specialty certification or AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification.
