Lead / Senior Control Systems Engineer (Peterborough)

We are looking for a hands‑on Lead / Senior Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of projects from start to finish—design, programming, testing, and commissioning.

You’ll work closely with the Commercial Manager and lead a team of engineers, helping drive quality delivery while mentoring junior staff, grads, and apprentices. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in growing the team and shaping the office.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning
  • Designing and delivering control systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI)
  • Leading client meetings, site visits, and technical discussions
  • Programming across platforms like Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, AVEVA/Wonderware, GE SCADA
  • Supporting and mentoring engineers to get the best out of the team
  • Producing technical documentation and ensuring compliance
  • Occasional site commissioning (some short stays away)

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years in a senior/lead control systems role
  • Strong experience with PLCs, SCADA, HMI, drives, and instrumentation
  • Background in Electrical or Software Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
  • Full UK driving licence

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Wonderware (or similar)
  • Instrumentation and electrical experience
