Purpose of the position: As a ROV Operations Engineer, you will provide engineering support to all Saipem ROV and subsea operations across all projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design specialist tooling to support Saipem projects, leading development of solutions, creating design layouts, working with the drawing office, checking all drawings and BOM, overseeing procurement, fabrication and testing.
  • Specify specialist ROV tooling from third parties, as required.
  • Create Operation & Maintenance Manuals for in-house new build tooling.
  • Review Project installation procedures to ensure practicality and efficiency from an ROV operations point of view.
  • Provide technical support to ongoing ROV offshore operations worksites as required.
  • Determine ROV tooling required to support particular operations and advise Saipem Projects on all aspects of ROV interfaces.
  • Provide technical assistance to Commercial Departments during bid preparation from an ROV interfaces point of view.
  • To become familiar with and to maintain awareness of Saipem’s current requirements and, where applicable, the latest Industry Codes and Standards including statutory rules and regulations.
  • To ensure that all activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Saipem’s policy on health, safety, quality and environmental matters in accordance with Saipem specific procedures.
  • To ensure his/ her own safety and that of others is not compromised or placed at risk.

Qualifications

Education: University or College Mechanical Engineering education to BSc/BEng or higher. If not degree qualified, eg: HND or HNC level with suitable experience.

Experience: Extensive detail design experience, preferably with ROVs; other design experiences will be considered. Offshore experience with ROV operations, in particular subsea construction and remote intervention will be a plus.

Technical skills:

  • Good knowledge of ROV tooling systems.
  • Good knowledge of Industry Standards, including ISO 13628-8 ‘Design and operation of subsea production systems.
  • Confident in the use Microsoft office package.
