Haematology Development Scientist – Diagnostics

Hartmann Young is partnered with a global medical diagnostics company specialising in IVD that target autoimmune disease, allergy testing and transfusion medicine. They are going through a phase of expansion and are looking to grow their team in Edinburgh, UK, with the addition of a Haematology Development Scientist.

Role Summary

  • Assist in the planning, organisation, and execution of haematology product development studies and projects under the guidance of senior scientific and project leadership.
  • Record, analyse, and interpret experimental data from assigned development activities in accordance with Design Control requirements and departmental objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of accurate project documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support the supervision, training, and development of other team members to enhance overall team capability.
  • Monitor the safe operation, maintenance, and control of laboratory equipment in line with established procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Participate in project teams and cross-functional meetings as required.
  • Engage in ongoing internal training and professional development programmes.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP), local procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements, reporting any deviations appropriately.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably requested in line with business needs.

The Person

  • Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of haematology or blood-based testing systems and how samples behave in analytical assays.
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment. (E.g. Medical Device, Pharma)
  • Experience in recording, analysing and reporting experimental results.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. (E.g. Regulatory Affairs, Commercial)
  • Knowledge of clinical haematology testing or analysis.
  • Experience in reagent or product formulation would be desirable.
