Role Overview

Practitioner Psychologist – HCPC Registered Practitioner, based in Croydon. This role supports residents and staff to feel empowered and utilises your skills and expertise in a creative and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to the team and residents to overcome personal challenges and create a supportive environment.
  • Advise and streamline best practices, and enhance the overall skills and expertise of the team to deliver high quality care and support.
  • Provide clinical supervision to the team.
  • Provide highly specialised psychological assessments for residents with mental health and complex needs.
  • Exercise full clinical responsibility for residents’ psychological care as a care coordinator within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Formulate and implement plans for various therapy routes and management of assessing mental health conditions based upon appropriate conceptual frameworks and evidence-based practices.

About You

We are looking for a self‑starter who can proactively encourage, lead and take ownership of creating a psychologically informed environment. You will:

  • Communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively within the organisation and with external partners.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders regularly in a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Utilise your expertise to empower the wider team to enhance their skills and deliver a service which is supportive, safe, and in line with best practice and regulatory bodies.
  • Be a HCPC registered practitioner with post‑graduate doctoral level training, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, at least two distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Have previous experience as a qualified clinical and/or forensic psychologist, working with people with complex backgrounds/needs.
  • Have the ability to teach, train, consult and deliver clinical supervision.
  • Understand criminology, psychology, and behavioural patterns, and how they link to different behaviours and engagement.
  • Apply safeguarding protocols as they arise.
  • Show flexibility in working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents.

Work Schedule

22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00, with some flexibility required to meet service needs.

Location

Based in Croydon. Unfortunately this service does not have step‑free access.
