The Product Solutions Engineer Role
Location: Remote‑first role with in‑person meetups at our London office approximately every two months.
Salary Range: £70,000 – £81,000 per annum.
Role Type: Permanent.
Start Date: As soon as possible.
The Product Solutions Engineer sits at the heart of Send’s product, ensuring the core configuration – workflows, rules, data models, screens and integrations – stays coherent, well‑tested and documented. The role bridges product management, engineering, QA and delivery teams to own the journey from “configured in a client” to “baked into the product.”
What You’ll Be Doing
Core Product Configuration
- Own the platform’s configuration as a first‑class product surface.
- Extract configuration from customer implementations and lift it into the core baseline to provide a richer out‑of‑the‑box experience.
- Curate, version and document the base configuration, preventing drift as new modules are added.
- Define what should be templated, configurable or customer‑specific in agreement with PM and PO.
- Build and maintain product templates for carrier, MGA, reinsurer, London Market and US specialty operating models.
- Identify recurring patterns and convert them into reusable templates or accelerators.
- Reduce implementation size and risk by narrowing the gap between the standard baseline and customer needs.
Testing and Definition
- Define, document and test the core configuration; translate intent into specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with QA to cover templated product through automated and exploratory tests.
- Work with engineering on the configuration framework to surface gaps and support easy templating and testing.
- Serve as the definition‑of‑done for base product changes: documented, tested, demonstrable and ready for delivery teams and SI partners.
Internal Enablement
- Produce configuration guides, examples and reference implementations to accelerate delivery.
- Act as the internal point of contact for “how does the product do this out of the box?” and route insights back to product when gaps exist.
- Feed structured feedback on customer extensions to product management to inform the roadmap.
Skills and Experience Needed
- Hands‑on experience configuring a complex SaaS or enterprise platform, working in the configuration layer.
- Strong product instinct for templating versus customer‑specific configuration.
- Experience owning specifications, acceptance criteria and test definitions.
- Effective collaboration across product management, product ownership, QA and engineering.
- Solid understanding of P&C commercial insurance, including underwriting, MGA and carrier operating models and the London Market.
- Comfortable with APIs, integration patterns and data mapping; ability to read JSON payloads and draft data models.
- Highly organised, able to manage configuration ownership across multiple product areas and flag drift proactively.
Nice‑to‑Have Experience
- Productisation of a configurable platform – turning custom customisations into standard features.
- Background in underwriting platforms, policy administration systems or bordereaux processing tools.
- Exposure to test automation, behaviour‑driven development or configuration as code.
- Knowledge of Lloyd’s and the London Market operating model.
- Experience working with SI partners or delivery organisations as the internal product owner of configuration.
Benefits
- Health Insurance – AXA covering medical, dental, optical, mental health and therapies; free access to Spill for confidential mental health support.
- Life Insurance – Covers four times basic salary; income protection up to 36 months at 75% of salary with rehabilitation support.
- Pension Scheme – Salary sacrifice scheme through Royal London with a 8% company contribution and minimum 4% employee contribution.
- Time Off – 25 days annual leave plus public holidays; volunteering time and a dedicated wellness day.
- Enhanced Parental Leave – 12 weeks fully paid leave for all new parents, with additional support for birth‑giving parents.
- Learning and Development – Annual budget via Learnerbly covering books, courses, conferences and other resources.
