Head of Agency Sales (Travel) – responsible for managing media agency relationships within the travel portfolio and leading revenue growth across The Times, Sunday Times, and The Sun.
Your Team
You will be joining the Commercial Travel Team, a vital and high-exposure department within News UK. This team acts as the bridge between our editorial content and our commercial partners, ensuring that brands like The Times, The Sunday Times, and The Sun continue to lead the way in travel advertising and creative partnerships.
Your role
As an ambitious and enthusiastic leader, you will manage key media agency relationships for the travel portfolio, reporting directly to the Travel Client Director. Your focus will be on growing commercial advertising revenue across diverse platforms for sectors including tour operators, cruise lines, airlines, and tourist boards.
Day to day you will:
Lead the daily operations of The Times, Sunday Times, and The Sun travel sections by coordinating with planning and editorial teams to deliver high-quality products to deadline.
Develop deep relationships with key agencies to ensure a mutual understanding of product portfolios, customer segments, and commercial objectives.
Deliver creative and compelling advertising proposals that solve client needs and meet commercial targets.
Oversee the budgeting and forecasting for classified and print sections, ensuring alignment with overall commercial targets.
Provide mentorship and direction to an Agency Sales Manager, setting clear KPIs and supporting their professional growth.
Pitch innovative, multi‑channel solutions across print and online platforms that engage our target audiences effectively.
What we're looking for from you:
A proven track record in professional, target‑driven media sales with the ability to deliver against commercial goals.
Experience in selling or building multimedia campaigns that span print, digital, video, audio, and events.
High‑level negotiation skills with the confidence to lead discussions with senior agency partners on long‑term partnerships.
Natural networking ability to build rapport and influence decision‑makers across agencies, clients, and internal departments.
Strong financial acumen for setting, managing, and reporting on budgets and forecasts.
A proactive drive to build a high‑potential business area and get things done in a fast‑paced environment.
A collaborative spirit and a desire to contribute to a hard‑working, inspirational, and fun team culture.
Specific knowledge of online travel clients or travel‑specific campaigns is preferred.
