Responsibilities
- Have extensive knowledge and skills of product requirements in line with ISO13485.
- Understand all potential risks to products within a sterile services department.
- Support the Production Manager and Quality Representative to ensure staff conform to the departmental Quality Management System, hospital policy and procedures, and highlight any areas of concern immediately.
- Assess, organise and plan the daily workflow within the Sterile Services and Endoscopy departments to maximise resource utilisation.
- Act as a resource to support technicians, reduce departmental and individual non‑conformances, conduct regular one‑to‑one meetings with staff and provide feedback to the Production Manager.
- Deputise for the Production Manager in their absence with support from the Operational Manager.
- Root cause and report on incidents relating to product and staff.
- Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department.
- Assess, plan, organise and manage own workload and the workload of others using the departmental traffic light reporting system to ensure maximum utilisation of resources.
- Supervise and coordinate staff within the department on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Provide and receive complex information and facilitate effective communication with departmental staff and customers.
- Support technicians’ ongoing development through regular performance reviews and yearly staff appraisals.
- Resolve day‑to‑day problems and queries arising from customers and support the Production Manager with complex complaint investigations.
- Ensure delegated actions relating to complaints are completed within specified time frames.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of ISO13485 and related hospital policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of potential risks to products within sterile services.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and incident reporting.
- Experience in supervising and coordinating staff.
- Strong organisational skills to assess, plan and manage workflows and resources.
- Capability to provide constructive feedback and performance appraisals to staff.
- Experience in managing complaints and driving resolution in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in using a departmental traffic light reporting system.
