Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer

Location: Newbury (commutable distance required). Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum. Hours: Mon-Thurs 8:00-16:00 | Fri 8:00-13:30 (earlier start available). Sector: Manufacturing.

About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to support a busy manufacturing site in Newbury. The role is hands-on, with a strong focus on electrical fault-finding, automation, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.

You will be the go-to electrical expert on site, supporting production, improving reliability, and upskilling the wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical fault diagnosis and repair on production machinery, control panels, motors, drives, PLCs, and sensors
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical infrastructure, switchgear, MCCs, and instrumentation
  • Installation and commissioning of new machinery and control systems
  • PLC and automation support (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, HMIs, SCADA, networks)
  • Ensure compliance with BS 7671 and internal safety standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, drawings, and documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
  • Train and support shift engineers
  • Manage contractors and liaise with suppliers

Skills & Experience

  • Strong electrical background in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Proven PLC and automation fault-finding experience
  • Confident working with 3-phase systems, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial networks (Profibus, AS-i, Ethernet)
  • Experience fault-finding electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of CMMS, safety circuits, and performance levels desirable
  • Proactive, reliable, and calm under pressure

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • 7+ years' industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience

Working Environment

Manufacturing environment with on-call requirements. Physical role including lifting and confined spaces.
