An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire & Security professional to join the training team as a Fire & Security Tutor, delivering industry-leading technical training to apprentices and engineers.

You will play a key role in developing the next generation of Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) engineers, delivering classroom and practical training aligned with the Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems apprenticeship standard. Working within a specialist training environment, you will help learners develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to succeed in the fire and security industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging technical training sessions covering fire, security, and electronic systems.
  • Teach apprentices how to install, commission, maintain, and fault‑find fire and security systems.
  • Provide instruction on access control, intruder alarms, CCTV, and fire detection systems.
  • Support apprentices in understanding electrical principles, system design, commissioning, and compliance standards.
  • Assess learner progress through practical demonstrations, coursework, and assessments.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to support learners' technical development and career progression.
  • Maintain accurate training records and assessment documentation.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and employers to ensure apprentices achieve industry‑recognised qualifications.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong background as a Fire & Security Engineer or Technical Specialist.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of fire and security systems.
  • Knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, and Fire Alarm systems.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineers or apprentices.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for developing new talent in the fire and security industry.
