Behaviour Support Assistant – Alternative ProvisionLocation: Hull | Full Time | Start Date: ASAP
GSL Education Hull are currently looking to appoint a proactive and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work within an alternative provision setting on a full-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support students who face barriers to learning due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The provision offers a structured and nurturing environment, focused on re-engaging learners, promoting positive behaviour, and supporting both academic and personal development.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
- Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons and intervention strategies
- Support the implementation of behaviour management plans
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour effectively
- Build strong, positive relationships with students to encourage engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- Relevant qualifications or training (e.g., Team Teach, PMVA) are advantageous
