The Opportunity
Our client, a well‑established international asset management firm, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their high‑performing, collaborative Legal team. You’ll support a broad range of work spanning institutional mandates, trading and derivatives oversight, distribution arrangements, contractual matters, and general regulatory advisory.
This role offers genuine breadth, ideal for lawyers coming from a corporate, funds, or financial services background who are keen to develop into a more holistic asset management counsel.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Legal, Institutional Client teams, Compliance, Operations and external advisers on matters such as:
- Reviewing and negotiating investment management agreements and institutional client arrangements
- Oversight of derivatives and trading documentation (liaising with specialist external counsel)
- Advising on UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID and wider regulatory requirements
- Supporting unlisted equity transactions, debt restructurings and other investment‑related matters
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and service provider agreements
- Providing legal input on cross‑business projects and initiatives
- Contributing to legal know‑how, precedents and internal best practice
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor (Minimum 3+ PQE) trained at a leading law firm
- Experience in financial services or funds (in-house or private practice)
- Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management
- Pragmatic, solutions‑oriented approach
Desirable but nor required:
- Exposure to unlisted equity transactions or debt restructurings
- Prior Working knowledge of UCITS, AIFMD or MiFID
- Experience negotiating institutional/segregated account documentation
- in-house, secondment or client-side experience
- Experience with UK regulatory frameworks (including Consumer Duty)
