Technical Assessor – Waste Management and Environmental Services

Location: Southampton, UK

Salary: up to £34,000pa (DOE)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 8:00am – 5:00pm

My client is offering a fantastic package for a Hazardous Waste and Recycling Technical Assessor to join their team based in Southampton. The right candidate will possess a degree or HNC in Chemistry, Environmental Science or similar and ideally have worked previously for a UK based Waste and Recycling Management Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess enquiries and ensure all required documentation and samples are accurate and complete.
  • Recommend disposal routes while ensuring compliance with permits, licenses, and regulation.
  • Liaise with Internal and External Chemist teams to coordinate sample analysis and manage waste acceptance processes.
  • Liaise with Sales and Operations teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Address non‑compliance issues, manage pricing, and support administrative tasks such as invoicing and transport bookings and routing.

Requirements

  • Degree or Higher Certificated of Education in Chemistry, Environmental Science or similar, is essential.
  • Previous experience working in the waste management industry desirable, but not essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the waste management process for hazardous materials.
  • Excellent experience in Customer Service.
  • Full right to live and work in the UK.
