Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take a lead role within our Design Team, delivering mechanical solutions across water and wastewater treatment projects that make a real impact.

In this role, you’ll own the full mechanical design lifecycle — from concept through to commissioning — working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions. You’ll also mentor junior engineers and help shape technical best practice across the business.

Please note: This position requires attendance in the Glasgow office or on site at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Producing compliant designs aligned with HSE and environmental standards
  • Supporting procurement, installation, commissioning, and optimisation
  • Carrying out technical reviews and risk assessments
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers

What we’re looking for

  • 7–10 years’ experience in mechanical design engineering (water/wastewater ideal)
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, pipework, valves, blowers, and filtration systems
  • Experience delivering designs within multidisciplinary teams
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Organised, solutions‑focused, and commercially aware

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools
