Field Service Engineer
Location: Around the Derby/Nottingham area
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 basic + uncapped overtime + on‑call allowance OTE: £50,000 – £55,000+
Overview
We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer to join a leading UK provider of physical security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles).
This is a hands‑on field role suited to engineers with experience working on larger machinery, agricultural equipment, or PLC‑controlled systems, alongside strong mechanical capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and repair security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles)
- Fault‑find across mechanical and basic electrical/PLC systems
- Attend breakdowns and support reactive maintenance
- Participate in on‑call rota (1 in 5 → 1 in 6)
- Complete digital job reports and liaise with clients on‑site
- Travel regionally with occasional overnight stays
Requirements
- Strong mechanical engineering background (essential)
- Experience with larger machinery / plant / agricultural equipment / PLC‑controlled systems
- Basic electrical knowledge (e.g. 3‑phase, 24v systems, 18th Edition desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces
- Based within Derby/Nottingham area
- Flexible for travel, overtime and weekends
Mandatory Security & Clearance (Non‑Negotiable)
- Right to work in the UK (documentation required)
- 5 years continuous UK residency
- 5 years continuous employment history (fully traceable)
- No criminal convictions
- British passport required
