AutoCAD Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Derbyshire
Salary: GBP40–45k doe + excellent benefits
- Are you an experienced AutoCAD Electrical Designer with a background in industrial automation and control panels?
- Do you have experience producing electrical schematics and panel layouts for PLC and SCADA systems?
- Do you enjoy working closely with automation engineers and project teams to deliver high–quality control system designs?
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of electrical drawings and control panel documentation for industrial automation projects across a range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and modify AutoCAD electrical drawings for PLC, SCADA, MCC, and automation control panels
- Produce detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and terminal details
- Support the design and development of industrial automation and control systems
- Work closely with automation engineers, electricians, and project teams throughout design and installation phases
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications
- Assist with BOM (Bill of Materials) preparation and component selection
- Support panel fabrication, FAT testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities where required
- Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing revisions, and engineering records
- Interpret P&IDs, single–line diagrams, and control schematics
About You
- Previous experience in an AutoCAD Electrical Design / Electrical Design Engineer role within industrial automation or control systems
- Strong proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical drafting software
- Good understanding of PLC systems and SCADA architectures
- Knowledge of industrial control panels, instrumentation, and electrical circuits
- Familiarity with industrial networking and automation components
- Understanding of panel wiring standards and electrical compliance requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or similar engineering discipline preferred
- Relevant industry experience will also be considered
