Field Service Technician – Aquaculture Monitoring Systems

About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician to join our team in Inverness, supporting the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced monitoring equipment used in salmon aquaculture. You will work directly at sea-based and land-based salmon farms, ensuring our systems run reliably in demanding marine environments and that customers get the most value out of the technology.
This is a field-based role for someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving on site.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission monitoring equipment (sensors, cameras, connectivity hardware) at salmon farming sites.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting both hardware and software issues on site.
- Provide on-site training and technical support to farm operators and clients.
- Document service activities, prepare site reports, and feed improvement ideas back to the engineering team.
- Manage spare parts, tools, and equipment used during fieldwork.
- Work safely and in compliance with site, marine, and company HSE procedures.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience as a field technician, service engineer, or similar role, ideally in aquaculture, or industrial instrumentation environments.
- Technical background in electronics, instrumentation, networking, mechatronics, marine biology, aquaculture.
- Comfortable working outdoors and on small vessels and floating structures, in variable weather conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work independently on site.
- Good customer-facing skills: clear communication, reliability, and a service-oriented attitude.
- Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel regularly across Scotland (including overnight stays).
- Right to work in the UK.
Nice to have
- Experience working on salmon farms or with aquaculture technology providers.
- Knowledge of underwater sensors (oxygen, temperature, salinity), weather stations
- Basic IT/networking skills (IP cameras, switches, Wi-Fi, 4G/LTE).
