Role: Mechanical design engineer

Location: Glasgow, North Lanarkshire

Salary: up to £45,000

As a Mechanical design engineer you are responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components .



Utilize engineering principles, 3D modelling software, and other design tools to create innovative solutions, working with teams of other engineers and project managers.




Responsibilities:


  • Design and Development: Creating and refining designs for mechanical systems, components, and products using CAD software and other tools.
  • Analysis and Testing: Conducting simulations, prototyping, and testing to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and cost requirements.
  • Collaboration: Working with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to develop and implement designs.
  • Documentation: Preparing detailed drawings, specifications, and reports to support manufacturing and other teams.
  • Project Management: Managing the workflow and progress of design projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.




Required skills:


  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software, knowledge of engineering principles, and experience with design analysis tools.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skill
  • 5+ years’ experience in machine shop/manufacturing environment preferred, Time served preferred but not essential
  • Organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Technical/computer skills (Excel, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
