About Camden

At London Borough of Camden, we are building somewhere everyone can thrive. Through We Make Camden, we work alongside our residents, communities and partners to create a borough where everyone feels safe at home and safe in their neighbourhoods.

Our Public Safety Division plays a key role in achieving this ambition. Working closely with communities, partners and internal services, we take a proactive and collaborative approach to tackling anti-social behaviour, environmental crime and other issues that impact the quality of life for residents and businesses.

About the role

We are looking for a Community Safety Enforcement Team Leader to help lead a team of Community Safety Enforcement Officers delivering visible, community-focused enforcement activity across the borough.

Working closely with the Community Safety Enforcement Managers, you will support the delivery of on-street patrols, interventions and enforcement activity to address anti-social behaviour and environmental crime. This includes investigating cases, responding to complaints from residents and businesses, and using a range of statutory enforcement powers such as issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and preparing prosecution files where necessary.

You will lead and support a team of officers, ensuring cases are managed effectively and that enforcement activity is proportionate, evidence-based and aligned with current legislation. You will also contribute to targeted campaigns and initiatives linked to Camden Community Safety Partnership priorities, including work to tackle anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, serious violence and violence against women and girls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Community Safety Enforcement Officers to deliver visible, community-focused enforcement across the borough.
  • Support the delivery of on-street patrols, interventions and enforcement activity addressing anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.
  • Investigate cases, respond to complaints from residents and businesses, issue Fixed Penalty Notices, and prepare prosecution files.
  • Ensure cases are managed effectively and enforcement activity is proportionate, evidence-based and aligned with current legislation.
  • Contribute to targeted campaigns and initiatives linked to Camden Community Safety Partnership priorities.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about improving neighbourhood safety and experience working with enforcement powers to address anti-social behaviour or environmental crime.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and the ability to apply professional judgement to achieve fair and proportionate outcomes.
  • Confident supporting and guiding officers in a fast-paced operational environment while maintaining high standards of case management and evidence gathering.
  • Comfortable engaging with residents, businesses, elected members and partner organisations to resolve issues and build strong relationships within the community.
  • Commitment to equality, partnership working and continuous improvement, and motivated to help deliver safer communities for residents and businesses across the borough.

Inclusion and Belonging

At Camden, we want every colleague to feel they belong and can thrive. We welcome applications from all parts of our community, and particularly encourage people from Black, Asian and Other Ethnic Heritage communities, LGBTQ+ people, disabled and neurodiverse people, survivors of domestic abuse, and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds or with care experience. We know that different voices and perspectives make us stronger, and we are committed to providing the support, adjustments and flexibility people need to succeed.

Asking for Adjustments

At Camden, we are committed to making our recruitment process barrier‑free and accessible for everyone. If you need us to do something differently during the application, interview or assessment process, please let us know and we will support you. This could include providing information in an alternative format, extra time in assessments, or adjustments for disabled, neurodiverse or long-term health conditions.
