Stockport NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting for a consultant in anaesthesia to join the friendly and forward thinking team of 30 general anaesthetic consultants and 13 intensive care consultants

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights. Interested candidates with a proposed CCT date beyond six months are still advised to apply for the post as further appointments are envisaged in the near future.

Job responsibilities

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (FRCA) or equivalent
  • On the specialist register of the GMC or within 6 months at the point of interview CCT/CESR in anaesthesia
  • Postgraduate certificate in Medical Education
  • The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
  • If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
  • In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Person Specification

Quailfications

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • CCT in Anaesthesia (or equivalent within 6 months)
  • Higher Medical Degree or Diploma
  • ATLS

Experience

  • Worked in UK >2 years
  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Education

Skills

  • GMC-mandated Clinical Supervisor
  • Evidence of participation in Quality Improvement Projects
  • All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English
