Our Mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering electric aviation. Our eVTOL aircraft, Valo, will set a new safety standard for zero‑emissions flight.

From a prototype to a scaling SME, the next few years are critical to delivering on ambitious goals. Valo aims for airliner‑level safety certification by 2028 before entering service.

We are seeking a Solution Architect to design and govern the digital systems that power our aircraft lifecycle— from concept and certification through manufacturing and continued airworthiness.

What You’ll Do

Solution & Systems Architecture

  • Design end‑to‑end solution architectures supporting aircraft design, flight test, certification, manufacturing readiness, and in‑service operations.
  • Define integrations across engineering systems (PLM, requirements, simulation), manufacturing platforms (MES, quality), and enterprise systems (ERP, data platforms).
  • Ensure solutions scale from prototype and certification phases into sustained production.

Standards, Governance & Compliance

  • Define and enforce architectural standards aligned with regulatory, security, and data governance requirements.
  • Ensure digital solutions support traceability, auditability, and aerospace compliance needs.
  • Participate in architecture review boards and provide technical assurance.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Partner with Product Managers, engineering teams, and delivery partners to shape solution designs early.
  • Support delivery teams with architectural clarity and technical decision‑making.
  • Balance short‑term programme demands with long‑term architectural integrity.

Technology Alignment

  • Align solutions with our enterprise architecture and Microsoft/Azure‑centric data strategy.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and integration approaches.

What you'll Bring

  • Strong experience as a Solution Architect in complex environments.
  • Proven experience integrating enterprise and operational systems.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, lifecycle management, and traceability.
  • Ability to communicate complex architectures clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ideally, a background in regulated or safety‑critical industries (aerospace, automotive, defence, energy).

Benefits

  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holiday.
  • 5 extra days per year to buy (or sell).
  • 5 extra days holiday when you get married or enter a civil partnership.
  • Additional 4% of your salary to spend on extra benefits.
  • Award‑winning digital health and wellbeing service (Help@Hand).
  • Company performance‑based bonus – rewarding company and individual performance.
  • Company Share Scheme – open to every Vertical employee.
  • Company Pension Scheme – 5% and we match it.
  • Breakfast on us, every day.

We encourage you to apply even if you may not have all the experience listed in the advert. We believe talent comes in various forms and are committed to creating an environment of growth, diversity, and inclusion for everyone.
