A leading engineering organisation in Bristol is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of complex electrical system design across a range of innovative projects. This role suits someone who thrives on technical depth, precision, and delivering high‑quality engineering outputs.
Key Responsibilities– Lead the design and development of electrical systems for new and existing products.– Produce high‑quality drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs.– Ensure all electrical designs meet relevant UK and EU safety standards, including CE marking requirements.– Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate electrical systems into wider product architectures.– Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance checks.– Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience– Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, ideally in a senior or lead capacity.– Strong capability in producing electrical drawings, schematics, and layout documentation using industry‑standard CAD/EDA tools.– In‑depth knowledge of UK and EU electrical safety standards, including CE marking processes and compliance pathways.– Solid understanding of electrical components, system integration, and design for manufacture.– Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work autonomously on complex technical challenges.– Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.
Desirable– Experience in highly regulated sectors (e.g., aerospace, automotive, industrial automation, medical devices).– Familiarity with EMC considerations and testing.– Knowledge of product lifecycle management and configuration control.
