Childrenswear Designer – Leading Fashion Supplier
Mode Search is supporting a leading design and manufacturing partner with the appointment of a Childrenswear Designer. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and commercially minded individual to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of trend-led, high street collections.
The role is based full-time in the London office, reporting directly to the Design Manager. It is a permanent position, working closely with both the design and sales teams.
The Role
- Design and develop commercial Childrenswear collections (including main range and nightwear) as well as Ladies Nightwear, with a strong focus on graphics and prints.
- Source fabrics and create innovative ranges tailored to the needs and aesthetic of different retail partners.
- Present design concepts and collections to stakeholders, adapting ranges in response to feedback.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to manage accounts and ensure a cohesive approach to clients.
- Liaise with buyers, merchandisers, and production teams to meet cost and margin requirements.
- Monitor competitors and market trends to inform design direction, producing mood boards and concept presentations.
- Maintain the design critical path, ensuring timely delivery of samples and production-ready designs.
- Travel on a semi-regular basis to attend client meetings and presentations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a design role, ideally specialising in Childrenswear or Womenswear.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate trends into relevant designs for the high street market.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Confident presenter with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator, with a strong graphic and print focus.
- A motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive approach, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
