Lead Engineer – Mechanical Manufacturing
Location: Gloucestershire (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Benefits
We’re partnering with a well-established mechanical manufacturing business in Gloucestershire that is looking to appoint a Lead Engineer to strengthen their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer ready to step into a leadership role within a progressive and growing organisation.
The Role
As Lead Engineer, you’ll take ownership of engineering activities across the site, providing technical leadership while remaining hands-on. You’ll play a key role in driving engineering excellence, supporting production, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a small team of engineers
- Overseeing day-to-day engineering support for manufacturing operations
- Driving continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and quality
- Supporting design for manufacture and new product introduction (NPI)
- Troubleshooting complex mechanical and process issues
- Ensuring compliance with engineering standards and best practices
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams across production, quality, and operations
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and technically strong engineer with leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- A background in mechanical engineering within manufacturing
- Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering role
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead from the front
- A hands-on approach with a strategic mindset
