The role & about the client:

Our client is an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of refurbishment projects across London and the South East. They deliver schemes across commercial, education, healthcare and residential sectors, typically ranging from £500k – £10m in value. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong refurbishment background to join their commercial team based near Gravesend. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected contractor with a stable workload and long-term career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all commercial aspects of refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Preparing cost plans, budgets and tender documentation
  • Procurement of subcontractors and supplier packages
  • Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor variations and valuations
  • Cost reporting and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks
  • Producing and agreeing final accounts
  • Working closely with project managers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a main contractor
  • Strong refurbishment or fit-out project experience (essential)
  • Experience managing projects from inception to completion
  • Good knowledge of JCT contracts
  • Strong negotiation and commercial management skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
