Job Title: Production Engineer

Salary: Circa £45,000

Location: Heywood, Greater Manchester (on-site)

Hours: 40 hours per week – Early Friday finish.

The Business

This is a well-established engineering business supplying cutting edge equipment to customers globally.

  • Recently invested heavily into new machinery.
  • Multiple ongoing projects in progress to improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Ongoing focus on improving how parts are manufactured, not just maintaining output.

You’ll be joining a business that is actively upgrading its capability and expects its engineers to play a key role in that journey.

The Role

This is a hands‑on Production Engineering role supporting machining operations.

It’s not a “sit behind a desk” position.

You’ll be working closely with the shop floor, taking CAD models from engineering and making sure they are machinable, efficient, and right first time.

You’ll be part of a team of experienced engineers, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Create and develop CNC programs for lathes and machining centres.
  • Work from SolidWorks models to support machining operations.
  • Define and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Produce routings, BOMs, and process documentation.
  • Support the shop floor with technical problem solving.
  • Improve cycle times, methods, and process reliability.
  • Work closely with engineering, purchasing, and operations teams.

What They’re Looking For

They are very clear on this: They want a strong engineer first. Systems can be taught.

  • Solid background in production/manufacturing engineering
  • Proven experience with CNC machining (lathes and machining centres)
  • Experience working with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Understanding of 4 and 5‑axis machining
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience creating routings and BOMs
  • Apprenticeship + HNC/HND (or equivalent experience)
  • Around 5+ years in a similar role

The Team & Environment

  • High calibre of capability in the team.
  • Straightforward, down‑to‑earth culture.

This isn’t a place where people coast, it’s somewhere where you can continue to learn and develop throughout your career.
