Band 5 Audiologist

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Audiologist to join our team as a Band 5 Audiologist.
As part of the Audiology Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the post holder will be responsible for assessment and rehabilitation of patients attending for hearing assessment. Audiology runs specialist clinics and there will be opportunities to work alongside staff working with Tinnitus, Vestibular and Hearing Implant patients.
As a clinician contributing to the provision of patients with complex hearing needs, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously with a wide variety of patients and develop your career in partnership with clinical experts in the field of Audiology.
The successful candidate will possess a BSc/PTP qualification, or equivalent, and will be registered with RCCP or HCPC. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work autonomously to assess, manage, and support patients presenting with hearing difficulties. Responsibilities include the diagnostic assessment and rehabilitation of patients with complex hearing needs, fitting hearing aids where appropriate, and supporting patients in shared decision-making about their hearing care. The role also involves providing follow-up care for existing patients, including hearing aid and implantable device repairs.
The post holder will contribute to service development, quality assurance, continuous improvement and innovation within the department. They must adhere to policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct, and will be supported in completing any work-based training relevant to the role.
Audiology offers a range of specialist clinics, and there will be opportunities to work alongside colleagues in Tinnitus, Vestibular, and Hearing Implant services.
The post holder will deliver holistic, compassionate, and inclusive care that respects individual choice and diversity. They will work collaboratively with other health and social care professionals, students, trainees, service users, carers, families, and external agencies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- BSc/PTP in Audiology (or equivalent)
- Registered with RCCP/HCPC/AHCS/HAD
- Membership of professional body (BAA or BSA)
Experience
- Training period must include a significant period of supervised clinical audiology training
- Experience of working with patients with hearing difficulties
- Knowledge of methods used to evaluate hearing, balance and tinnitus
- Experience of hearing aid fittings and knowledge of current technology and application, including verification techniques
- Understanding of the issues surrounding hearing impairment and impact on quality of life
- Knowledge of hearing pathologies and otoscopic examination and interpretation
- Knowledge of national Audiological guidance
- Awareness of IQIPS
Additional Criteria
- Ability to undertake routine evaluation and rehabilitation without supervision, and create treatment plans based on information received
- Ability to programme and evaluate hearing aid fittings
- Ability to counsel patients regarding a range of treatment options, taking into account the needs of the patient
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to explain patients hearing pathologies in a sensitive and clear way
- Good communication skills – verbal and written
- Effective team worker, working in collaboration with others
- Good time management.
- Able to work alone as well as in a team.
- Ability to be mobile, if required, operating across UHB sites.
- Knowledge of Auditbase
