We are currently recruiting for Section Engineer for a new major civil engineering project in Suffolk within the renewable energy sector. As a Section Engineer, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering a defined section of works to the highest standards of safety, quality, and engineering excellence.

You’ll work closely with Site Engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure smooth site operations and successful delivery.

This role will provide the opportunity to develop technical, managerial, and interpersonal skill set with frequent exposure to senior management.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver work activities in line with short-term and overall project programmes.
  • Supervise Site Engineers and oversee subcontractor activities, ensuring work is completed safely and to specification.
  • Manage technical queries, support engineering planning, and review drawings and technical information.
  • Implement and monitor Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure all quality standards are met.
  • Support a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across the site.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation, reporting, progress tracking, and support commercial controls.
  • Contribute to digital construction practices, including the use of BIM and digital tools.

Person Specification

  • HNC/HND, BEng, BSc, or MSc in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong site engineering experience within infrastructure or complex civil engineering projects.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, and temporary works.
  • Practical experience with quality assurance processes and inspection procedures.
  • Competence with digital construction tools and familiarity with BIM.
  • CSCS certification.
  • A proactive, collaborative, solution‑focused approach to engineering challenges.
