Quality Engineer Early Career Program (Duxford, UK)

Responsibilities

  • Support Operations, Customers, and Suppliers to optimize capacity and minimize quality‑related disruption.
  • Take a leading role in quality improvement activities such as RCCA, FMEA, APQP, LEAN, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion the investigation and resolution of internal and external non‑conformances using global quality tools.
  • Liaise cross‑functionally (locally and globally) to ensure appropriate technical, testing, and quality support is applied in a timely manner.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and assessments (internal and external) once trained and qualified, representing the Quality function as required.
  • Perform data analysis, investigations, and quality projects using recognized statistical and quality software.
  • Review customer, supplier, and internal specifications to ensure compliance and protect the organization commercially and legally.
  • Support and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure robustness, compliance, and continual improvement.
  • Develop strong product, process, and testing expertise to support internal problem‑solving and customer engagement.
  • Act autonomously to manage workload, priorities, and quality‑related decision‑making in line with company standards and values.

Qualifications

  • Scientific or technical qualification to Degree level (or equivalent), or the ability to attain this.
  • Experience working within complex Quality Management Systems, ideally within a regulated or aerospace‑related industry.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, with awareness of NADCAP requirements.
  • Understanding of the aerospace composites industry, including its regulatory and customer‑driven requirements.
  • Strong analytical capability, including SPC techniques, statistics, and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality/statistical software such as Minitab or equivalent tools.
  • Experience of working in cross‑functional and globally linked environments.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously, demonstrate integrity, and make sound quality and compliance decisions.
  • Experience or familiarity with QMS, ERP, or laboratory data management systems is desirable.
