Senior Finance Manager (Recorded Music)
Your Role
As Senior Finance Manager (Recorded Music), you will lead the SSC pillar responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting for WMG’s Recorded Music division. Reporting to the Senior Director, RTR, you will own the monthly P&L to OIBDA reporting process for Recorded Music, oversee key royalty and credit balance accounting, and act as the primary SSC partner to the Recorded Music Finance teams.
This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, business partnering skills, and the ability to drive process improvements in a fast‑paced, global environment. You will manage and develop a team, ensuring high standards of compliance, service delivery, and stakeholder satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
- Own the monthly P&L to OIBDA reporting process for the Recorded Music pillar.
- Ensure timely, accurate submission of monthly, quarterly, and year‑end results.
- Partner with Recorded Music Finance Leaders and Regional Accountants to ensure results are fully understood and effectively communicated.
- Ensure publishing‑specific transactions (e.g., royalties, advances, participations, copyright costs) are correctly accounted for.
- Oversee the review and reconciliation of royalty‑related balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of credit balance transfers, collaborating with Royalties and Legal teams.
- Act as the key contact for credit balance queries, ensuring transparency and control.
- Drive improvements in royalty and credit balance processes to strengthen compliance and efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with Recorded Music Finance teams and entity leaders, acting as their trusted SSC partner.
- Liaise with FP&A, Legal, Royalties, and Transformation colleagues to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Provide insight and guidance to stakeholders on accounting treatments and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, SOX controls, and internal policies.
- Maintain strong documentation and audit trails for all publishing‑related processes.
- Identify risks early and implement effective mitigating actions.
- Manage and develop a team, providing technical coaching, direction, and support.
- Set clear expectations and ensure performance delivery against KPIs and SLAs.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Support ad‑hoc projects, analysis, and initiatives led by the Recorded Music Finance team and SSC leadership.
- Contribute to evolving SSC processes, structures, and reporting practices.
- Champion standardisation, automation, and simplification across publishing finance processes.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 5+ years PQE.
- Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams in a shared service or global finance environment.
- Strong technical accounting experience ideally in financial reporting, preferably with exposure to royalties, revenue recognition, or entertainment/media industries.
- Confident with Excel and ERP/reporting systems (SAP, HFM preferred).
- Highly organised, deadline‑driven, and comfortable in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, and committed to delivering high‑quality outcomes.
- Demonstrates integrity, discretion, and a continuous improvement mindset.
