Who We Are

Curts is an employee owned and award-winning engineering consultancy. We take pride in the positive impact we make on the world around us and have delivered practical and innovative solutions for over 60 years, building a better future for everyone.

Joining Curtins means more than just being involved in project delivery – it means becoming part of a warm and welcoming team, where your skills can evolve, your career is nurtured and we work together to create a lasting legacy.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Geo Environmental Engineer to join our team in Cardiff / Bristol. Our projects include UWE Bristol and Southampton student residences, Willows School Cardiff, Swansea Arena, and numerous healthcare, further education and defence projects. This role involves a degree of independence with limited supervision from the team leader to manage and deliver projects. The successful candidate will have responsibility for client liaison, financial and people management within project lifecycles. The role also involves writing and reviewing technical documents such as Phase 1s, Phase 2s and Remediation Strategies, site supervision of investigations and construction (including earthworks and remediation), and ensuring all activities comply with Curtins’ procedures and the highest safety, health and environmental standards. The chosen candidate may be asked to support the team leader with business development and work‑winning.

An understanding of DoWCOP processes and/or Qualified Person (QP) status for involvement within Materials Management Plans (MMP) is advantageous but not essential.

The Right Fit

We are looking for someone with experience as a Geo Environmental Consultant, ideally in a multi‑discipline consultancy, to support our existing team in Cardiff / Bristol. A suitable candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related discipline (or equivalent), with a master’s degree desirable but not essential. They should be chartered or working under a recognised professional institution training pathway towards chartership. They should have a good understanding of geology and contaminated land, ground investigation supervision skills, strong communication and technical skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. The role requires excellent written skills for producing clear, high‑quality technical reports, strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a consistent focus on health and safety. Any applicant must hold a full driving licence and be willing to travel and work outdoors. Above all the right fit will be guided by what is right when making decisions, who recognises the contribution of others and shares their successes, and who is kind, conscientious and proud of their work and the legacy our profession leaves for everyone.
