Teaching, Learning and Assessment Specialist – Maths
Location: Cross CollegeSalary: Up to *GBP*42,529.71 per annumContractual Hours: 37.00Basis: Full timeWe are seeking an exceptional, high-performing teaching specialist to join our Quality Team. This is an exciting, cross-college role working across both Barnfield College and West Herts College at all campuses Watford, Barnfield and Hemel Hempstead.
The main purpose of this role is to drive excellence in teaching, learning and assessment in the Maths department. You will be supporting teachers to become highly effective practitioners through coaching and development. You will also be involved in a range of quality assurance, improvement and CPD activities.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a fully qualified teacher (L5 Cert. Ed. or equivalent). You will be a consistently high-performing teacher and must have experience of working within a Further Education college setting.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience planning and delivering maths qualifications in the FE sector, with a strong knowledge of GCSE, Stepping stone and functional skill qualification pathways. You will demonstrate secure knowledge of core mathematical concepts and apply this in supporting teachers to design and implement exciting and engaging lessons that maximise learner progress.
You will be experienced in coaching staff to adapt teaching, learning and assessment for inclusive practice, focusing on developing deep understanding rather than surface learning. Confidence in exam structures, awarding-body requirements, and effective teaching strategies to support learner success, progression and positive outcomes is essential.
Its a fast-paced environment, so you will be working on multiple priorities at any given time. A comprehensive understanding of professional standards, including the OFSTED Toolkit, is beneficial.
You will be passionate about developing others and be willing to use coaching to improve practice, rather than simply evaluating performance. Your ability to build credibility quickly, challenge constructively and support staff to improve will be central to your success in this role.
