Service Engineer (Office-Based) / Technical Support Engineer / Engineering Support Engineer

Location: Watford
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + Pension + 22 Days Holiday

The Role

We are recruiting a Service Engineer (Office‑Based), also suited to a Technical Support Engineer, Engineering Support Engineer or ex‑Field Service Engineer, to provide remote technical support for electromechanical equipment used in retail and public environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a Field Service Engineer looking to transition into an office‑based role, while continuing to use strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills. As an Office‑Based Service Engineer / Remote Support Engineer, you will act as a key escalation point, supporting engineers working on dispensing machines, weighing systems and vending equipment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide remote technical support to Field Service Engineers
  • Diagnose faults using structured fault‑finding techniques
  • Act as escalation point for complex electromechanical issues
  • Perform remote diagnostics, software updates, resets and system recovery
  • Collaborate with other Technical Support Engineers and Service Engineers

Who This Role Suits

  • This role is ideal for a Field Service Engineer looking to move into a no‑travel role
  • Also suited to Technical Support Engineers, Helpdesk Engineers (engineering) or Electro‑Mechanical Engineers seeking a stable, office‑based environment

Skills and Experience

  • Background as a Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Technical Support Engineer
  • Experience with electromechanical systems, sensors, controls or software
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic ability
  • Comfortable providing support remotely or over the phone
  • Transferable experience welcomed from sectors such as CCTV, EPOS, vending, access control, conveyors or general machinery. We value engineers from a wide range of technical backgrounds.
