Automation Engineer (DeltaV)

Location: Grangemouth (site‑based)

Contract Length: 6 months

Rate: £39.95 per hour (Umbrella)

Hours: 36 hours per week

Start: ASAP

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to provide software and automation support at a COMAH‑regulated manufacturing site in Grangemouth. This contract role focuses on supporting and modifying site automation systems, with particular emphasis on Emerson DeltaV and batch process control.

The role will suit a hands‑on control engineer with strong experience in process automation, who is comfortable working closely with production, engineering and process teams in a high‑hazard environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide software support for site automation and process control systems
  • Develop, modify and support control strategies using Emerson DeltaV
  • Translate process engineering requirements into automation software solutions
  • Diagnose process control issues and implement effective solutions
  • Implement temporary and permanent control system modifications in a safe and compliant manner
  • Work within defined HSEQ standards and safe systems of work
  • Support production by identifying and resolving automation‑related bottlenecks
  • Interface effectively between engineering, production and process control functions
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate technical documentation for assigned work
  • Support project delivery activities while minimising impact on production assets

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven Control / Automation Engineering experience in a manufacturing or process environment
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Emerson DeltaV
  • In‑depth knowledge of batch process automation and chemical batch unit operations
  • Experience working on or supporting COMAH or high‑hazard sites
  • Strong understanding of HSEQ requirements and compliance
  • Ability to work independently or as part of cross‑functional teams
  • Strong problem‑solving, planning and organisational skills
  • Clear and effective communication at all levels
