Senior Specialist Scientist – Hydrogeologist

Full‑time, permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual models based on hydrogeological data including ground investigation, pumping tests, and monitoring.
  • Conduct groundwater risk and impact assessments for groundwater resources and quality.
  • Develop and apply numerical groundwater modelling of flows and pollutant fate and transport.
  • Provide expert specialist evidence and advice on complex groundwater issues to internal and external customers.
  • Manage groundwater projects and deliver technical direction supporting regulatory actions, water scarcity incident management, and monitoring reporting.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an appropriate scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience with groundwater impact and risk assessments, including quantitative modelling for resource management.
  • Experience designing and interpreting ground investigation, pumping tests, and monitoring, including health, safety and environmental considerations.
  • Effective project management skills with experience mentoring and developing staff.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex hydrogeological concepts for non‑technical stakeholders and the public.
  • Full UK driving licence.
