Key is a day service charity based in Benton which provides supported activities for adults with a wide range of needs. We are seeking motivated, value‑driven, flexible staff to run supported activities for adults with learning disabilities / difficulties, mental health needs or acquired brain injuries. Candidates should be able to run activities that are stimulating and engaging from our base in Benton and also access community activities all over the region.

Duties

  • Planning and facilitating activities within Key Enterprises and the wider community using your skills to support learning and the completion of tasks.
  • Supporting service users to complete appropriate tasks safely.
  • Risk‑assessing activities and liaising with managers to manage risk and ensure safety is prioritised.
  • Actively promoting the company with the objective of attracting new gardening contracts and outdoor projects.
  • Maintaining an awareness of the changing needs of service users.
  • Operating under the general direction of the Company’s Management and Board and complying with all approved policies and procedures.
  • Working flexibly to cover staff absences or additional service demand.

Essential Skills

  • An awareness of a mental illness, learning disabilities or day service services.
  • Experience in any of the following: music, art and drama, crafts, woodwork, gardening, cooking/baking, outdoor pursuits, personal training.
  • Ability to plan and organise effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate with a range of people, using a variety of communication methods.
  • A passion for working with people with additional needs and providing person‑centred support.
  • Understanding of confidentiality.
  • Competence in the use of IT including Office products.
  • Self‑motivation and an ability to work independently.

Desirable Skills

  • Training or qualifications relating to mental health, learning disabilities or brain injuries.
  • Hold a full, clean driving licence.
  • An awareness of safeguarding.

This is a casual hours position. Shifts will be offered as and when they are available, working flexibly to your availability as well as the availability of shifts. Regular hours are not guaranteed. A full working week is 37.5 hours between 08:30‑16:30 Monday to Friday, but there will likely be times you are required to work only a single day or a morning/afternoon session.
