URGENTLY NEEDED
We are seeking an experienced, committed, proactive, hands-on General Manager who would enjoy working in an exciting, fast-paced environment at Jamboree Venue. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional customer experiences, and uphold our commitment to cultural and musical excellence. Recently relocated to King’s Cross from its original East End home in Limehouse, the venue is located in a cobbled alleyway perfectly suited to its intimate, unique charm. At Jamboree we celebrate musical forms from around the world, while also providing a home for theatre arts, cabaret, jazz, European and global folk, often accompanied by traditional dances.
Purpose of Job: To take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business, delivering on profitability, service, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Deliver strong financial performance through effective P&L management, cost control, and sales growth.
- Ensure all health & safety, fire, and licensing regulations are strictly adhered to (Personal Licence holder essential).
- Full responsibility for day-to-day operations, set and maintain service standards across bar and daytime trade. Act as the senior on-site leader.
- Creating a culture of high performance, unforgettable guest experiences, and genuine hospitality. Balance operational excellence with strategic leadership in a hands-on role.
- Oversee live music logistics and events programming, ensuring seamless operations and an unforgettable atmosphere.
- Recruit, train, and develop future leaders within your team. Manage rotas and labour.
- Build strong relationships with local communities, partners, and suppliers.
- Work with diverse personalities, including staff and patrons.
- Diffuse potentially tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent safety or legal issues; eject unruly persons if needed.
- Lead a culture of high performance and memorable guest experiences while maintaining a richly diverse atmosphere the venue is renowned for.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be a Personal Licence holder with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Experienced General Manager or strong Bar Manager ready to step up.
- Thrives in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with a “can-do” attitude.
- Observant with the ability to think critically and efficiently.
- Strong bar-led background with solid cocktail, spirits and wine knowledge.
- Hands-on and comfortable working bar shifts.
- Commercially astute with a track record of hitting financial and operational targets.
- Calm, organised leadership style and excellent interpersonal communication; diplomatic, flexible, problem-solver with initiative.
- Passion for music-led, culture-driven venues and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Strong proficiency in Office systems.
- Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A creative, upbeat team player who can motivate staff and nourish a joyous, diverse atmosphere.
Role Details
- Shift type: Full time, contract-based (PAYE)
- Salary: £40k per annum
- Start date: 1st week of April 2026 (negotiable)
- Interviews: mid-late March 2026
