Senior PCB Engineer

South Cambridge area | hybrid (3 days on site) | Up to £50k

I’m supporting a leading, innovation-driven engineering consultancy that develops advanced, sustainable and safety-critical technologies across commercial, industrial and defence sectors. Known for integrity and collaboration, they offer an environment where technical excellence and teamwork drive every project.

They’re now looking for a Senior PCB Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in transforming design concepts into high-quality, manufacturable boards. You’ll work closely with world-class RF, digital, power and analogue engineers, help strengthen supplier relationships, and contribute to enhancing PCB capability across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating manufacturable PCB designs from engineering schematics
  • Managing schematic and PCB footprint libraries, plus scripting BoMs and generating manufacturing data packs
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with PCB CAD and manufacturing suppliers
  • Auditing suppliers and keeping up to date with new PCB technologies
  • Negotiating stack-ups, timescales and costs with PCB suppliers and build contractors
  • Overseeing the delivery of boards to agreed quality, specifications and deadlines (ISO9001 environment)
  • Presenting designs in internal and external design reviews
  • Driving continuous improvements and best practice across PCB processes

What You’ll Bring

  • A strong portfolio of completed PCB designs – experience in RF, microwave or millimetre-wave is a big plus
  • Expert user of Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout (essential)
  • Knowledge of SMT, DFA, DFM and IPC standards for high-reliability products
  • Experience supporting electronic and mechanical design teams
  • Ability to solve complex design challenges and work independently under pressure
  • Confident communicator able to negotiate with suppliers and collaborate internally

What’s on Offer

  • Career progression routes – technical, commercial or managerial
  • Hybrid working (3 days on‑site)
  • A friendly, inclusive team culture with regular social events
  • Modern facilities just south of Cambridge with great transport links

If you’re looking for a role where you can genuinely influence PCB capability, work with top‑tier engineers and be part of an organisation that values its people as much as its technology – this is one to explore.
