Water Infrastructure Design Manager: Lead Delivery Teams

We are working with a leading civil engineering contractor in the water sector who have secured a strong pipeline of AMP8 projects across the West Midlands. With work due to commence imminently, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to support delivery from early-stage development through to construction.

The Role

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across water projects
• Oversee design development from concept through to detailed design and construction support
• Review and finalise specifications, ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and buildable
• Manage technical queries and design changes, ensuring timely resolution
• Work closely with delivery teams and supply chain to drive cost-effective solutions
• Monitor design progress, budgets, and programme to ensure timely delivery
• Identify and manage design risks, ensuring early mitigation
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and governance procedures
• Contribute to value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within the water sector
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams
• Strong understanding of water treatment or infrastructure projects
• Ability to manage design budgets, programmes, and change control
• Technically strong xwzovoh with a practical, delivery-focused mindset
• Degree-qualified in an engineering-related discipline
• Confident managing risk and driving projects to programme
