Finance Director to join a fast-growing precision engineering business of 200 employees, supplying major international customers in the aerospace and energy sectors. This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of a company with big growth ambitions and plans for future investment, funding, and acquisition.

Role Summary

This is more than a “safe pair of hands.” The business is looking for a finance leader with the credibility, experience, and consistency to help take it through its next stage of growth. Someone who can combine sharp commercial insight with financial discipline, and who has a proven track record of success in engineering and manufacturing environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the company’s financial strategy, reporting directly to the CEO and MD.
  • Position the business for future investment, funding, and acquisition.
  • Drive profitability and cash flow through effective working capital and cost management.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to keep growth targets on track.
  • Deliver accurate costing, stock, and WIP valuation to guide pricing and production decisions.
  • Mentor and develop a small finance team to build capability as the business scales.
  • Build trust with banks, auditors, investors, and potential buyers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA), ideally CIMA.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in engineering or manufacturing finance — this is essential.
  • A consistent and solid career history that demonstrates loyalty, delivery, and progression.
  • Proven track record of managing cash flow, working capital, and profitability in growth businesses.
  • Expertise in costing and valuation within production environments.
  • Experience preparing businesses for funding, investment, or acquisition is a strong advantage.
  • Commercially sharp and confident influencing across operations, engineering, and leadership.
  • Advanced ERP and Excel skills with a drive for process improvement.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and able to balance strategy with delivery.
