Your new role
As Communications Officer, you will take the lead in delivering and coordinating a wide range of communications and public relations activities. This is a varied and hands-on role where you will contribute directly to shaping how the organisation communicates with its responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering communications strategies and action plans
  • Managing digital channels, including website and social media platforms
  • Creating engaging content such as press releases, newsletters, and publications
  • Acting as a key point of contact for media enquiries and building media relationships
  • Supporting internal and external communications campaigns
  • Monitoring and evaluating communication performance and engagement metrics
  • Coordinating events, webinars, and promotional activities
  • Providing communications advice and guidance to senior stakeholders

You will play a vital role in ensuring consistent messaging, enhancing engagement, and strengthening the organisation's public profile.

What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will bring a strong background in communications and public relations, alongside excellent organisational and interpersonal criteria include:

  • A relevant qualification in communications, PR, or a related field and knowledge of the Northern Ireland education landscape would be advantageous.
  • 3 years' demonstrable experience in a role with primary responsibility for communications and public relations.
  • 3 years' demonstrable experience of developing and managing the delivery, and subsequent evaluation, of communications and public relations within an organisation.
  • 3 years' demonstrable experience developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of a communications and public relations strategy and action plan and developing responses to metrics and feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • 1 year's relevant administrative experience with well-developed IT skills.
  • 1 year's demonstrable experience engaging with stakeholders including dealing with customers face to face, by telephone and via email.
  • Demonstrable experience and skills in building positive working relationships as a team member and supporting change management; with the proven ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with colleagues at all levels and in all business areas of an organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of IT systems and of programmes/software for creating/editing corporate documents/publications, website pages/documents and social media content (for example, MS Office packages, social media platforms, Photoshop and graphic design packages).
