Are you an experienced Senior Project Manager with a proven ability to deliver complex, high-impact business projects within challenging, non-corporate environments? Do you thrive on driving critical initiatives that shape the future operating model of an organisation?

We are working exclusively with a globally recognised, values-driven institution in the Higher Education/Public Sector to source a Senior Project Manager to join their Strategic Projects team.

This is a Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) through to March 2027, offering stability and significant exposure at the executive level.

Your Core Responsibilities:

This is a critical delivery role focused on supporting major strategic objectives, requiring a highly resilient, autonomous, and flexible approach.

  • Strategic Delivery Leadership: Providing expert-level project management support to senior executives on key business transformation and efficiency workstreams.
  • Target Operating Model Support: Driving foundational project work related to streamlining and reconfiguring core professional services processes and structures.
  • Portfolio Management: Managing the delivery of projects focused on strategic changes to core academic and product offerings.
  • Complex Stakeholder Management: Effectively engaging and aligning diverse and senior stakeholders across the organisation, navigating complex environments with clarity and confidence.
  • Flexible Methodology: Applying creative and adaptable project management frameworks (ideally aligned with APM principles) in a setting where rigid, “by-the-book” methodologies are not followed.

We are seeking a specific profile that understands the unique cultural dynamics of the sector.

  • Sector Background: Essential experience (5+ years) in a Project Management role. Experience in the Higher Education, Non-Profit/Charity, or Local Government sector is desirable.
  • Project Focus: Demonstrated success in leading projects focused on business change and operational design. This is explicitly not an IT Project Management role.
  • Professional Qualification: Essential Project Management certification (e.g., Prince2, APM, PMI).
  • Working Style: You are an autonomous self-starter with exceptional resilience, able to navigate ambiguity and complexity while delivering structured project outcomes.
  • Communication: Exceptional listening and communication skills are essential to manage stakeholders.
