User Experience Designer – Public Sector Digital Transformation

The Opportunity

Consulting Point is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to join a top-tier global management consultancy. This position is focused on the design and delivery of high-impact, regulated digital services within the UK Public Sector. The role involves managing complex, large-scale programmes for central government departments, specifically those responsible for national social infrastructure, citizen services, and educational frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead interaction design across the full project lifecycle, from initial Discovery through to Live delivery.
  • Translate user research and complex policy requirements into intuitive user journeys and high-fidelity wireframes.
  • Develop and maintain robust design systems using Figma and FigJam, ensuring patterns are adapted to meet specific technical constraints and user needs.
  • Ensure all designs exceed WCAG 2.2 AA standards and maintain strict adherence to the Government Digital Service (GDS) Service Manual.
  • Collaborate closely with front-end developers to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in the final HTML implementation.
  • Provide design leadership within multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior designers and guiding stakeholders through the design process.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Substantial experience in UX and Interaction Design within UK central government environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering digital services that have successfully passed GDS Service Assessments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma for wireframing, prototyping, and design system management.
  • Technical understanding of HTML and CSS to facilitate seamless collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Experience navigating complex, regulated environments where accessibility and security are primary considerations.
  • Ability to articulate design decisions based on user evidence to senior stakeholders and policy leads.
