The Role
As a mechanical maintenance engineer, you will be involved in the following:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise uptime and equipment performance.
- Responding quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns to minimise disruption.
- Diagnosing and repairing faults across a range of production machinery.
- Working safely in line with SSOW, risk assessments, SOPs and company policies.
- Completing PPMs and reactive tasks within agreed timeframes.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records (manual and electronic).
- Ensuring all repairs are validated by engineering supervision and production teams.
- Keeping the workshop organised, safe and compliant, including correct parts usage.
- Participating in limited call‑out cover and supporting during absence periods.
Experience Required
To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience with machinery such as granulators, conveyors, hammermills, extrusion equipment, colour separators, gearboxes, bearings, rollers and shafts.
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (preferred).
- Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic.
- Reliable, organised and committed to high standards.
