Commercial Senior or Managing Associate Solicitor – Tech, IP & Data | 5+ PQE | Leading National Firm | Birmingham

BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting a highly regarded national firm in their search for a talented Senior or Managing Associate to join their growing Commercial Tech, IP & Data team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned Senior Associate or Managing Associate with at least 5 years' PQE to advise high-profile clients, particularly in the Financial Services sector, on a wide range of sophisticated technology projects. Based in Birmingham, the role offers flexibility, autonomy, and a clear career path within a collaborative, forward-thinking team.

The Role

As a Senior or Managing Associate in this Commercial Tech, IP & Data team, you will:

  1. Lead on high-value, strategic technology matters for major Financial Services clients, as well as working across other sectors.
  2. Advise on a broad range of non-contentious technology projects, including framework agreements, cloud migration, fintech solutions, digital transformation initiatives, software licensing, and large-scale outsourcing arrangements.
  3. Work closely with partners and colleagues nationally on complex, cross-jurisdictional work.
  4. Supervise, mentor, and support junior lawyers within the team, fostering a positive, high-performing team environment.
  5. Play a key role in business development, including preparing pitches, delivering client training, and building long-term client relationships.
  6. Take part in client secondments (virtual or in-person) where appropriate.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will:

  1. Be a qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE, gained in a leading technology/commercial team or in-house legal environment.
  2. Have a strong track record of advising Financial Services clients on complex technology and procurement matters.
  3. Demonstrate outstanding technical skills in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
  4. Be a proactive, client-focused individual with a commercial outlook and a strong sense of initiative.
  5. Enjoy working collaboratively and mentoring junior colleagues.
  6. Be ready to play a senior role in the continued growth and success of the Birmingham team.
