Senior RF Engineer

Polytec are seeking a talented and experienced Senior RF Engineer to join our client based just north of Cambridge. This is a key technical role where you will contribute significantly to development projects, leveraging your expertise in RF electronics design. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in RF design, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Location: Cambridge (CB25)
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Hours: 9am until 5:30pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Salary: up to £85,000 depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify RF circuitry
  • Complete subsystem design and implementation
  • Conduct technical requirements analysis and resolve design/integration issues
  • Perform performance testing and optimisation
  • Lead integration and prototyping activities
  • Create detailed technical documentation (design reports, test plans, performance analysis)
  • Component specification and sourcing

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field
  • Extensive experience in RF design and development
  • Comprehensive knowledge of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation and testing
  • Significant experience at design level in at least three of the following areas:
    • RF Power Amplifiers, Transmitters, Receivers
    • Frequency Generators and Matching Networks
    • EMC/EMI and broadband communications
    • LTE/4G/5G technologies
    • Component selection and RF simulation tools (e.g. ADS, CST)
    • RF testing methods and facilities (e.g. anechoic chambers, screening rooms)
  • Strong experience in at least two of the following technologies:
    • TETRA – (Apply online only) MHz
    • GSM – 800/900/1800 MHz
    • LTE/4G/5G – (Apply online only) MHz
    • GNSS – 1.6-2 GHz
    • WiFi – 2.4-6GHz
